Welcome to the first installment of Free Pattern Friday. Once a month, I plan to feature a free pattern, either one of my own designs or an interesting pattern I’ve found on the interwebs. 🙂 If you come across a free pattern that you think deserves to be shared, send me a link. I’ll check it out and it might end up being featured.
Today’s pattern is my own. I have this little pink tutu for my Bitty Baby, that is now getting too small because she’s not worn it. I had nothing to pair it with. Pants wouldn’t work… a skirt wouldn’t work… but it looked too bare left as is. Enter leg warmers.
I started playing around with the stitches- should I do houndstooth or shell stitches? Double crochet stripes? I thought it would be really fun to make a stitch that looked like hearts. I don’t think this is a new idea. I’ve seen some things that sort of resemble a heart, but I couldn’t find a pattern or tutorial anywhere. So, I made it up!
You can use this stitch on anything, really: blankets, hats, clothes… How cute would a pair of heart stitched pants be? (for a baby, of course. I am not condoning heart stitched pants on anyone older than like 2)
I’m sharing my pattern for these sweet little leg warmers. I made them in size 3-6 months, but I included a table of how to make them virtually any size.
Take a look. Make a pair (or ten). And let me know what you think. If you find errors or find it to be confusing, please let me know.
